Three Nines Fine: A Graphic Novel About Brain Health

Discover Three Nines Fine, a powerful and beautifully illustrated graphic novel co-created by Alanah Knibb and Omotola Thomas, with support from Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Inspire Fund. Inspired by true events, this novel offers a fresh and insightful perspective on the connection between Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia, while also emphasizing simple, everyday actions that can enhance brain health.

At the book launch on 21st September 2024, guests were treated to delicious African-inspired refreshments, followed by dynamic discussions, a Q&A session, a creative workshop, and a book signing. The event was an intimate and engaging gathering where Omotola, Alanah, and Angelika shared the journey behind Three Nines Fine and explored the vital link between Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

The Q&A and creative workshop sparked meaningful conversations around the book's three central themes for promoting brain health: taking care of our heart, staying socially active, and keeping our brain challenged. Together, we also explored how to foster diversity in research and encourage greater participation from Black, African, and Caribbean communities—one of the key goals of this initiative.

A heartfelt thank you to the The Africa Centre for their gracious hospitality at the launch of Three Nines Fine.
